The SoundMind Center is hoping to be among the first sites in the country - and as of now the only site that has applied in the city of Philadelphia - to deliver MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD. Because MDMA-assisted psychotherapy is still in the process of research and approval by the FDA, SoundMind Center will likely not be able to provide this therapy until spring 2020 at the earliest. Once Expanded Access is granted, we will aim to make this treatment as accessible as possible to those who need it most.

Though MDMA-assisted psychotherapy may not be formally approved by the FDA until 2021 or later, the FDA has granted early access to this therapy through its Expanded Access program. Expanded Access is a program that allows patients to receive promising new treatments still under investigation, in advance of formal FDA approval. You can read more about this program here

Patients hoping to access MDMA-assisted psychotherapy may also apply to enroll in one of the phase III clinical trials underway at sites across the country. In the northeast, there are currently trials recruiting participants through winter 2019 in New York City and Boston, Massachusetts (see details and contact info below). Please note that there are limited spots available within these trials and there are certain criteria for inclusion. For more information on how to apply to these sites, visit mdmaptsd.org.

Patients can also access other forms of treatment for PTSD at any time. Below are a list of mental healthcare centers in Philadelphia offering treatment for PTSD and trauma-related concerns:
