SoundMind is hard at work to steer the psychedelic renaissance toward equity, with a focus on ensuring that these treatments are affordable, accessible, and identity-affirming to Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC), veterans, those who have experienced intergenerational trauma, LGBTQ individuals, and those who are neurodiverse. To help us achieve these goals, in 2010 we formed SoundMind Project, an affiliate non-profit organization focused on equity and access in psychedelics.
Your generous support will help SoundMind Project:
JAMAICA HURRICANE RELIEF & COMMUNITY HEALING: Jamaica has just experienced the first Category 5 hurricane in its history, devastating the entire island and displacing families, destroying homes, and wiping out livelihoods. Beyond the physical damage, there is a growing mental health crisis, as up to 30% of hurricane survivors may develop PTSD. SoundMind Project Inc., our nonprofit founded in Jamaica in 2010 to support alternative mental health care, is responding through Yakub Grant, our director of Jamaica Programming, who is coordinating local relief efforts while addressing urgent needs for his family and the surrounding communities. For the coming months, donations will go directly to Yakub to support recovery in Kingston and nearby areas, with a focus on mental health and wellness.
DOCUMENT VETERANS THROUGH HEALING JOURNEYS AND SUBSIDIZE VETERAN PSYCHEDELIC HEALING: Storytelling is a vital pathway toward increasing awareness of and support for psychedelic medicine, especially as we seek to find affordable, accessible ways to deliver these new approaches. SoundMind Project is committed to telling the personal stories of psychedelic therapy as a vehicle for social change. Check out our Veterans Peer Support Video Project and follow Ace's Story of Psychedelic Healing here.
SPONSOR TRAINING: We are committed to training the next generation of diverse psychedelic providers, especially providers who are BIPOC, LGBTQIA, and neurodiverse. To date, SoundMind Project has provided $80,000 in scholarships to fund the training and mentorship of BIPOC psychedelic providers, and over $200,000 in scholarships overall.
SPONSOR THERAPY: Our West Philadelphia location currently provides ketamine-assisted therapy, trauma-informed psychotherapy, and breathwork for folks throughout the region. Your donation will help sponsor care for those who cannot afford care.
CREATE PUBLIC EDUCATION: We are committed to improving public awareness of psychedelic medicine through online content that makes information about psychedelics free and accessible. Check out our animation project and Solidarity Series.
PRESERVE SACRED MEDICINES: We work alongside our indigenous and Peruvian colleagues to help create and maintain sites for sacred medicine work. All proceeds will go directly to our partners in Peru towards equipment, land purchase, or hiring support help to grow this initiative.
