The Sleeping Octopus Assembly on Psychedelics II is happening on September 27-29th in Pittsburgh, PA and promises to be an exciting and informative time. Rick Doblin will be speaking, and if you haven’t heard him speak before, you need to get yourself to Pittsburgh! It has been his longstanding vision to get MDMA-assisted psychotherapy approved for medical use, and he hasn’t stopped after 30 years – tirelessly battling the FDA and government red tape to bring this therapy to everyone in need.

Two of our therapists, Dr. Hannah McLane and Dr. Michelle Joy will also be speaking at this conference, on Saturday Sept 28th. Their talk is entitled: “PTSD and Psychedelics: Creating an Ethical Framework for Inclusivity”. They will be walking people through several philosophical thought experiments to help them understand their core values regarding fairness and social justice and then working to apply that to the world of PTSD and psychedelic treatment. [Spoiler: the entire way the medical community defines the diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder already unfairly leaves some people out]. They will also be sitting on a panel about expanded access moderated by MAPS’ own Jade Netanya Ullmann. Jennifer Jones and Aisha Mohammed will also be in attendance, so if you are there you can meet more than half of the SoundMind Center team! Single day or weekend tickets can be purchased here
